You will find no better best friend than your mother in this world. Believe me. She knows you more than anyone does. You are the flesh of her flesh. Respect her, cherish her and love her with all your heart. She could be gone one day and you’d find no one like her.”

Mom turned 82 years old today. I called her early in the morning to greet her and to ask her what her plans are today. While I was talking to her she had callers on her Globe phone (I spoke to her on Viber on her other phone). Every time someone would call her she gives the Viber to Rhian and I end up talking to Rhian the whole time.

Rhian entertained me and was telling me stories about the birds of Tatay and their dog Madison (her tatay has a lot of lovebirds at the back of their house). But to tell you the truth I did not understand 99% of what she told me. She really can’t speak well yet (she’s just 2 years old). Without Mom to translate what she’s saying, there’s no way I would be able to understand her. Until she ran out of stories and told me: “tawag na lang ug balik kay busy pa si Lola.” – “call again cos Lola is still busy.”

I am so much like Mom. She doesn’t want to celebrate her birthday. She told me she was going to mass early and prepare lunch ‘cos my other brother is going to have lunch at home. Good thing my brother Ryan and his family is going to visit her. Dad bought lechon early in the morning (my brother requested for lechon).

And that made her happy.

That’s just what my wish for her.

For her to be happy.

Happy birthday, Mom!

Vito got sick last week and I got busy attending to him. You know how Vito is when he’s sick. Akala mo kung ano na ang nangyari sa kanya. He won’t stop self-diagnosing. I knew it was just swollen tonsils and the normal colds but as usual he made it seem like he was dying. So, I had no choice but to bring him to his Doctor (Dra. Cristina Antonio) to shut him up.

True enough, Dra. Antonio said his tonsils are swollen. Hay, naku si Vito talaga.

I ended up catching his colds today. ughhhh…

But I’m ready for the coming week.

2018, this is it!
